Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

The Siuslaw Vikings had five wrestlers in the top four in their weight classes Saturday on their way to a sixth place finish out of 17 teams at the North Douglas Wrestling Invitational.  Ryan Connor took top honors, winning the 285 pound bracket.  Turner Wyckoff was 2nd at 192; Alex Snow was 3rd at 138 pounds; Hayden Miles tied for 3rd at 160; and Isaiah Burkhalter was 4th in the 120 pound bracket.

On the court… the Reedsport Boys claimed the championship at the Dunes Country Classic Basketball tournament Saturday… it was the first championship for the Braves since 2004 as they downed Waldport 49 – 24 in the final.  The Reedsport Girls lost to North Douglas 38 – 22 for 2nd place.

Eric Moreland and Roberto Nelson had 20-points apiece as Oregon State beat San Diego 86-79 in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic Saturday night.  Devon Collier had 18 and Joe Burton 13 for the Beavers who improved to 9-and-2… winners of five straight.  Oregon State will host Towson Saturday, then wrap up the preseason at home next Monday against Texas-Pan American.

The Oregon Ducks started strong against Houston Baptist and remain perfect at home with a 91-50 win Saturday afternoon.   The Ducks had four players in double figures, including Tony Woods with 14 and E.J. Singler with 13.  The Ducks have not lost at Matthew Knight Arena since January 29th of this year when they fell to Oregon State.  Oregon will host Nevada next Monday… then open up the Pac 12 season January 6th in Corvallis.
