PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Ryan Nicholas and Kevin Bailey scored 12 points each as Portland held off Division III Lewis & Clark College for a 78-73 victory last night. Nicholas and Bailey had key jumpers down the stretch for the Pilots after the Pioneers trailed by just two, 71-69, with 2:17 remaining. Nicholas’ two free throws clinched the game, making it 77-70 with 17 seconds left.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – The Memphis Grizzlies are sending rookie guard Tony Wroten to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns. The 6-foot-6 Wroten has played in three games for the Grizzlies, and he’s had one rebound and one steal in that time. The Grizzlies drafted the 19-year-old with the 25th pick overall after he played one season at Washington.

TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Sounders FC general manager Adrian Hanauer says the team intends to pick up the club option on forward Eddie Johnson for the 2013 season. Hanauer spoke yesterday as the Sounders management wrapped up the 2012 season. Johnson finished with 14 goals in MLS play, 17 in all competitions and was voted MLS comeback player of the year.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Hope Solo is trying to diffuse the drama surrounding her personal life as the gold medal-winning U.S. women’s soccer team prepares for an exhibition match against Ireland. The goalkeeper made her first appearance with the national team yesterday since she was married to former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens in Washington state on Nov. 13.
