SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Salem authorities say the estranged husband of a 30-year-old woman has been accused of fatally shooting her. Marion County detectives say 45-year-old David Paul Eaton was arrested yesterday. The detectives said the victim’s name wouldn’t be released until they were able to notify family members in her country of origin. Eaton is charged with murder.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Jackson County sheriff’s office says a reward for help in finding a jail escapee has now climbed to $6,000. The sheriff’s office said Tuesday it continues to investigate leads and canvas areas in and around that southern Oregon county. Bradley Monical was awaiting trial in March for a 2010 bank robbery in Ashland. Investigators say he stood on another inmate’s shoulders on the night of Nov. 19, removed a piece of metal mesh from the roof covering, and jumped into a nearby tree.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal judge in an Oregon man’s upcoming trial on a terrorism charge says the government may keep secret the real identities of two undercover FBI operatives expected to be key witnesses. In an opinion signed yesterday, Judge Garr King found that identifying the two would be helpful to Mohamed Mohamud’s lawyers preparing for a January trial. However, King also found that the government’s national security interest in protecting the identities outweighs any defense interest in obtaining the names.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a rock dropped from an Interstate 5 overpass hit a car carrying two University of Oregon distance runners, causing injuries to both. The Register-Guard reports that the car’s 20-year-old driver, Molly Grabill of Poway, Calif., was hospitalized in good condition. Police say a rock larger than a baseball went through the windshield of Grabill’s Subaru Legacy station wagon and hit her in the face Monday night. Police say passenger Chris Brewer, also a native of Southern California, was treated at a hospital and released.
