PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A former Portland police officer facing state charges of online corruption of a minor is also facing similar federal charges. Scott Edward Elliott pleaded not guilty yesterday in federal court to receipt of child pornography and using the Internet to entice a minor. He is being held without bail. The Oregonian reports the 50-year-old Elliott he registered sex offenders.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A 50-year-old Medford man was defiant as he was sentenced to 72 years in prison on convictions for rape and sodomy. Jackson County Deputy District Attorney David Orr told the Mail Tribune that William Henry Thompson called the victims liars and refused to sign the sex offender registry. Thompson was convicted Sept. 7 and sentenced yesterday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A two-alarm fire last night spread from a shed to a nearby business in southeast Portland. Fire officials say workers at the Printing Today business were evacuated while firefighters doused the flames. No one was injured.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Some food carts are the latest target of metal thieves in Portland. Cart owners at the Green Castle Food Court in northeast Portland say thieves have cut and taken their power cords twice in less than a month. The copper wire can be sold to metal recyclers.
