Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – President Barack Obama will hold a private campaign fundraiser at the convention center in Portland this afternoon. The campaign scrapped earlier plans to hold a “grassroots event” for supporters. The president is scheduled to depart for Seattle by evening. Obama was last in Oregon in February 2011.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Medford police say the driver suspected of fleeing a fatal hit-and-run was arrested by Jackson County sheriff’s deputies yesterday afternoon at home at White City. The 34-year-old was taken to a hospital under guard for treatment of her injuries. Police say her pickup truck collided with a van early yesterday in Medford. Four men were ejected from the van as it overturned. One died.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon death row inmate Gary Haugen is due in court today in Salem for a hearing on his request to invalidate a reprieve that has spared his life. The civil lawsuit in Marion County Circuit Court challenges the reprieve granted in November by Gov. John Kitzhaber.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – You don’t just grab money out of the till at one Burgerville outlet in southeast Portland and race off. Police say Burgerville employees chased and caught a man who tried that. Sgt. Pete Simpson says employees gave chase last evening and held a man until officers arrived. Dewayne Charles Taylor was jailed for investigation of third-degree robbery and two outstanding warrants.
