Recap for Sunday, 7-22:

Two runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning yesterday pushed the Three Rivers Sandblasters into an extra inning against the Springfield Titans.  Ryan Smith then hit a walk-off RBI double to score Timmy Young giving the Blasters a 6-5 win in the opening game of a double header.  In the nightcap, Mike Bennett scattered 14 hits and struck out seven on the way to a 7-5 win over the Titans.  John Dodson had two RBI; Alex Snow the same and Jake Thompson added two hits and one RBI.

Three Rivers has a final game this afternoon in Salem against the Withnell Dodgers, but will finish league play in fourth place… they’ll compete in super regional play Friday in Portland.  Tonight’s game will air at 4:45 on Coast Radio Sports… the first pitch at five.

The Eugene Emeralds have now strung five straight wins together, three of those over the weekend against the Boise Hawks winning 7-2; 7-4 and 8-1.  The two teams meet again this evening at PK Park in Eugene where they’ll wrap up a five game series before the Emeralds head out on the road to Vancouver BC.
