PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal judge has denied a National Labor Relations Board request to find Port of Portland longshoremen in contempt of court for an Independence Day work slowdown. The judge said yesterday he believes some longshoremen intentionally worked at a slow speed that morning, but they may not have received word of a July 3 order to stop the illegal slowdown.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police detectives have arrested three people in the fatal shooting of a man in a strip club parking lot. Witnesses told police 31-year-old Robert Edward Ford Jr. crashed into several cars and a party bus in the parking lot after he was shot Wednesday night. Two men were arrested soon after the shooting for investigation of murder while a woman is being investigated for evidence tampering.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon finance regulators are accusing a Washington man of selling fraudulent investments. The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services says Shelby Bell of Vancouver pocketed more than $187,000 from 7,500 investors over eight months. Officials say Bell told investors they could make a one-time payment of $25 dollars and earn $900 a week for seven years.

EPHRATA, Wash. (AP) – The last Columbia Basin pygmy rabbits produced in a captive breeding program have been released to six-acre enclosures of grass and sagebrush in central Washington. Biologists and volunteers from the Oregon Zoo and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife released 11 adult rabbits and five kits, each about 20 days old, Monday near Ephrata.
