Local Sports: Athlete of the Week; Central Coast Invitational

Your Place For Local Sports

Siuslaw High School has one of the best track and field facilities on the coast and coach Chris Johnson says this Friday afternoon it will feature nearly a dozen of the top programs in the region.

Chris Johnson – “There’s 11 teams coming in and, actually we’re pretty excited.  It should be pretty competitive and fun to watch.”

The Central Coast Invitational not only draws plenty of competitors, it also requires a lot of extra hands to help keep the meet running smooth.

Chris Johnson – “There’s lots of things that are fun, and you can kind of get right in the middle of things and there’s a lot of other things that you don’t have to, maybe a little less pressure.  We do do ribbons and medals for this meet so we have to have people who, you know, help put ribbons and medals in packets and help put results up on the wall and you know, raking, all kinds of stuff.  So if anyone’s interested in helping you can find my email on the school’s website, send me an email and we’ll get you set up.”

Of course, you don’t have to volunteer to watch the action… there is plenty of grand stand space at Hans Peterson Field.
