Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Eugene radio station traffic reporter who
was teased on the air and quit after a confrontation with the host
is suing the station for $2.5 million. In the lawsuit against
KFLY-FM and Bicoastal Media, 48-year-old Michael Fleming says he
suffered severe emotional distress as the target of age
discrimination and sexual harassment on the afternoon “Donkey
Show.” The company says it’s looking into the matter. The
Register-Guard reports 29-year-old host Tanner Haney teased Fleming
and among other things called him a “stupid old man.”

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A man who shot and wounded a co-worker last
June at a Eugene hydraulics shop has been sentenced to more than
seven years in prison. Dale O’Callaghan pleaded guilty to assault
after waiving his right to an insanity defense. The victim told
police O’Callaghan called him “one of those satanic” people after
shooting him. O’Callaghan’s mother said at the time he was upset
over ribbing by co-workers about expectations he would be taken up
in the Rapture predicted by a radio preacher.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Some Reed College students are complaining
about the police raid on a campus apartment that led to the arrests
of two students accused of marijuana possession and delivery. At a
student senate meeting yesterday they questioned why the school
chose to call Portland police after campus security officers found
2 to 3 pounds of marijuana and a small amount of ecstasy and LSD.
College officials say it upheld an agreement with police on how to
deal with student drug use.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – University of Oregon journalism student
Benjamin Christensen is a big baseball fan. How big? He spent
$4,000 to have the mascot or logo of every major league team
tattooed on his body. The American League is on his left side and
the National League on his right. Christensen hopes for a career in
sports broadcasting.
