Transportation:
ODOT/Valley, No. Coast: ODOT has completed preparations for closing OR 126W (Florence-Eugene Hwy) at Cushman, approximately three miles east of Florence as the Siuslaw River continues to rise.  The highway remains open at this hour, however motorists will encounter high water in areas from Mapleton to Florence.  Electronic message boards have been placed along the highway to alert motorists to highway conditions.  If the highway is closed, the message boards will contain that message.  Motorists should travel with caution, reduce speeds and be prepared to slow vehicles quickly to proceed through high water.
