DAMASCUS, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County sheriff’s detectives have
made an arrest in what they call the “targeted attack” that
killed a 34-year-old man outside his home in an upscale subdivision
of Damascus. Sgt. James Rhodes says 29-year-old Marcos Andres Pico
of Clackamas was arrested last night for investigation of murder in
the death of Jonathan David Waldorf. Pico was booked into the
county jail in connection with the Tuesday’s attack.

HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) – A former Morrow County sheriff’s reserve
deputy has been sentenced to life in prison in the 2010 shooting
death of a pregnant eastern Oregon bartender. The state attorney
general’s office says 30-year-old Steven Montie Crum pleaded guilty
to the murder of Jessica Rae Killian of Hermiston. Her body was
found on a farm near Ione. Sentenced yesterday, Crum must serve at
least 30 years before he’s eligible for parole.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland police officer will stand trial
early next year in connection with a shooting in which authorities
say he mistakenly loaded lethal rounds in a beanbag shotgun. The
Oregonian says a trial date was set for Feb. 1 for Officer Dane
Reister. He pleaded not guilty to assault and negligence charges
Tuesday. The 15-year veteran is on paid leave and had to turn in
his badge and gun for the June incident that occurred at a park.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have disarmed a
33-year-old man accused of swinging a toy light saber at customers
in a toy store, assaulting at least three of them. Sgt. Pete
Simpson says officers found the man – still swinging the light
saber – in the parking lot of a Toys R Us store last night. One
officer tried to use a Taser but it was ineffective. A second
officer made contact with his Taser but the man used the light
saber to break one of the wires. Simpson says officers wrestled the
Hillsboro man to the ground as he kept yelling incoherent
statements.
