Ems Move Into First; Stevens Dominates

5 Straight for Emeralds

The Emerald bats were not working last night like they did over the weekend, but it did not matter.  A good start from pitcher Alonso Garcia and three relievers was more than enough to lift them past Hillsboro.  Garcia pitched 5 shutout innings with 4 hits, a walk, and striking out 6.  The Ems scored 2 in the second inning and that was all they would need to come out on top.  The Hops rallied in the seventh scoring 1.  Last nights win put the Ems on a 5 game win streak and first place in the Northwest Division.

Game 2 of the three game series continues this evening at 7:05 at PK Park.
