Beavers Advance

Beavers Host Super Regionals

It was a weekend of hits and wins as the Oregon Beavers  advance to the Super Regionals.  On Friday Jake Thompson went 7 2/3 innings for the 8-2 win over Holy Cross.  It looked like he was on cruise control through 5 as Holy Cross was not able to hit the ball as the beavers took a 2 zip lead into the 6th inning.  The Crusaders  bats came alive in the 6th getting to within one and leaving men on base as Thompson battled his way out…then in the bottom of the 6th the Beavers gave him a little relief scoring 3 opening up a 5-1 lead.  Thompson had 10 total strike outs, 6 of which came in his final 3 innings of work.  He is now one of 5 pitchers in Beaver history to win 13 games in a single season.

On Saturday and Sunday evening the Beavers took on Yale and Luke Heimlich worked 7 innings Saturday striking out 8 as the Beavers cruised past Yale 11-zip.  Yale recovered in the elimination game against Holy Cross, and then returned to play the Beavers again on Sunday evening.  The Beavers came alive again in the sixth inning opening it up and allowing room for reliever Brandon Eisert, picking  up his fifth win of the season after limiting Yale to four hits and two walks in 3 2/3 scoreless innings. Drew Rasmussen started for the Beavers and worked four innings, giving up five hits and a run while striking out five.  Final score 8-1.

The Beavers now host the Super Regionals and will face the Clemson Tigers this weekend.
