HOUSTON (AP) — George Springer’s three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning gave the Houston Astros a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night. Springer’s shot off Chase De Jong (0-1), who started the inning to make his major-league debut, landed in the first row of the left-field Crawford Boxes. The Astros improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2001, while dropping the Mariners to their first 0-3 start since 2011.

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider acknowledged the team has listened to trade offers regarding cornerback Richard Sherman, but downplayed that a deal may actually happen. Schneider made his comments in an interview with KIRO-AM on Wednesday. While open with the discussions that have taken place, Schneider was quick to give the impression that a deal was unlikely to happen.

UNDATED (AP) — Retired running back Marshawn Lynch has visited the Oakland Raiders as he decides whether to come back to the NFL and the team decides whether it wants to acquire the hometown favorite. A person familiar with the visit says Lynch came to the facility on Wednesday to meet with Raiders officials. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the visit wasn’t announced by the team.

UNDATED (AP) — Allie Long doesn’t mind shifting positions for the simple fact that it makes her a well-rounded player. A central midfielder for most of her career with the U.S. women’s national team and the Portland Thorns, Long was moved to center back for recent international matches by coach Jill Ellis. The results have been mixed, but Long says she is dedicated to doing her part.
