Senior pitcher excels offensively and defensively

Viking softball standout Heidi Jones is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week.  The senior pitcher faced 43 batters, striking out 17, in an 11-inning loss last week to Coquille.  In the same game, Jones also went three-for-six at the plate, scoring once and stealing four bases.   Honorable mention goes to freshman shortstop Mia Collins (MEE-uh) who was two-for-three at the plate, including a double and a stolen base in the other half of that Coquille double-header.

Ducks win in Provo

Morgan McCullough was three-for-two at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored and Oregon broke a late tie with three runs in the eighth inning for a 9-6 non-league baseball win over Brigham Young yesterday in Provo.   The Ducks will be at home in PK Park this weekend for a non-league game against UC Irvine.
