Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Tyler Seguin scored on the power play in the third period and the Dallas Stars beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 on Thursday night. Both teams are well back in the Western Conference playoff race. The Canucks finished winless on their five-game homestand, with the last three losses coming in regulation.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Jordan Mathews scored 16 points to help Gonzaga slowly pull away from South Dakota State for a 66-46 victory and avoid the first 1 versus 16 upset in the history of the NCAA Tournament. The Jackrabbits (18-17), champions of the Summit League, led for the first 17 minutes of Thursday’s game in the West region and stayed in range for most of the game in Salt Lake City.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) —The Oregon Ducks are counting on senior forward Chris Boucher’s contributions from the sidelines against Iona. Boucher tore his ACL in a victory against California in the semifinals of last weekend’s Pac-12 Tournament, quite a blow for the team’s leading shot blocker and dangerous 3-point threat. Boucher was Oregon’s third-leading scorer at 11.8 points, also averaging 6.1 rebounds and 2.55 blocks before getting hurt. The Ducks lost by three points to Arizona in the Pac-12 Tournament final without him.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — American Vincent Zhou won the Junior World Championships gold medal Thursday. The 16-year-old from Palo Alto, California, soared from fifth place with a brilliant free skate that included three quadruple jumps in Taipei, Taiwan.
