Oregon opens tournament play with a win

Number five Oregon ran away from Arizona State in the second half yesterday and cruised to an 80-57 victory over the Sun Devils in one quarterfinal of the men’s Pac-12 basketball tournament in Las Vegas.

Fifth seeded Cal gets by Utah

Jabari Bird had 26 points, including a key three-point play with 14 seconds left and Cal upset fourth seeded Utah 78-75 in the second quarterfinal game.  The Golden Bears and the top seeded Ducks will meet at six this evening.  That game will air on KCST with the pregame show at 5:30.

On the other side of the bracket, second seed Arizona ran away from Colorado 92-78 to advance to the semi-final round.  They’ll take on number three seed UCLA tonight at 8:30.  The Bruins escaped with a 76-74 win over cross-town rival USC.

The final game of the tournament is Saturday night at eight pm.  If the Ducks win tonight… KCST will have that game on the air with a 7:30 airtime.

College Baseball

Oregon downed Santa Clara last night 6-2.  The four game series continues this evening and through Sunday afternoon.

Fourth ranked Oregon State shut out Ball State two-nothing last night in Corvallis… They’ll play a double-header today at Goss Stadium, then play the final game of their four-game series tomorrow.
