Champion wrestler earns Athlete of the Week honors

Huff named Athlete of the Week feature

Siuslaw wrestling standout Richard Huff is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week.  The junior 113-pounder went into the OSAA 4A State finals as the number one seed and came away with the championship trophy.  Huff won his first two matches by fall, pinning opponents in one-minute-40-seconds and five-minutes-one-second, then claimed his third victory by major decision, 13-3.  He went on to pin his opponent in the championship match in one-minute-42-seconds.

Honorable mention goes to 285 pound Viking wrestler Kainan Lane.  The senior heavyweight came away from the state tournament with a fifth place finish, rebounding from a pair of losses to pin his final opponent in one-minute-40-seconds.
