January Wrestling Classic at Siuslaw
The Nick Lutz Wrestling Invitational opens early Saturday morning in Florence. Grapplers from at least 21 schools, including host Siuslaw, will be on the mats beginning with the early morning weigh in. Matches will begin at 9:30. They’ll take place on several different mats on the main floor and the balcony in the main gym at Siuslaw High School. Finals will begin around 4:30.
Beavers facing tougher task this weekend
It’s been a tough season already for the Oregon State Men’s basketball team. They opened Pac-12 play two weeks ago against then 22nd ranked USC, followed immediately with a loss to number four UCLA. A trip to the Evergreen state resulted in losses to Washington State and Washington… and things don’t get any easier Saturday when they venture into the forest at Matthew Knight Arena for the first of two Civil War matchups against 13th ranked Oregon. The Ducks have not lost a conference game… they’re four-and-oh in the Pac-12 and 15-and-2 overall. The Beavers meanwhile, have just won four games this season, with 13 losses so far. The Civil War Basketball game tips off at 7:30 Saturday evening.
