SEATTLE (AP) — Scientists with the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network are installing new sensors to measure the earth shaking during Saturday’s Seahawks football game against the Detroit Lions. The Seahawks say seismologists will install the new equipment at CenturyLink Field Thursday to provide real-time monitoring of the ground vibrations. The equipment will help scientists test their instruments, telemetry and analysis.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — CJ McCollum had 27 points and Damian Lillard returned from a sprained ankle with 21 points and 10 assists to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 118-109 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday night. It was Portland’s ninth straight regular-season victory over the Lakers, a franchise record.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Nigel Williams-Goss scored a career-high 36 points, and Number 5 Gonzaga used its accurate shooting all over the court to beat San Francisco 95-80 Thursday night. Jordan Mathews scored 16 points for the unbeaten Zags, returning to the city where he grew up to face a program his father once coached. A sold-out crowd of 3,814 at Memorial Gym turned out for what is always an anticipated visit by Gonzaga whenever the Bulldogs travel.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State has named Jason Phillips its passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach, and John Rushing its safeties coach. Phillips spent last season as wide receivers coach at Kansas after three years as the co-offensive coordinator at SMU. Rushing spent last season with the Los Angeles Rams as a special teams and defensive consultant.
