Viking wrestlers split pair of meets; Beaver basketball with a loss; prep and college schedules

Siuslaw wrestlers split a pair of dual meets last night on the mat in Florence.  Reedsport came out on top 36-30 over the Vikings, while Siuslaw beat North Bend 36-9.  In the third meet of the evening, Reedsport demolished North Bend 51-6.

Top performers for Siuslaw were Richard Huff at 120 pounds; Eyza (AY-suh) Abbas at 126; Scott Simmons at 145; and Nick Steinman at 170.  Siuslaw will be on the mats tomorrow in Turner at the Perry Burlison Invitational at Cascade High School.

On the court last night…

Quindary Weatherspoon led Mississippi State with 21 points and the Bulldogs used a big first half to beat Oregon State 74-57.  Stephen Thompson Jr. returned to action for the Beavers.  He scored 20 points.  Oregon State will be in North Carolina tomorrow afternoon where they’ll face Charlotte at four.   The pregame show on KCFM is at 3:30.

Oregon is at home tomorrow for a three o’clock game against Savannah State.  The pregame on KCST is at 2:30.

Prep basketball this evening…

Siuslaw will host the Elmira Falcons.  The girls tip off at six, the boys right after.  The pregame show on KCST is at 5:45.  The Mapleton Sailors are in Yoncalla this weekend for tournament play.
