Repeat championship for Mans
Siuslaw’s Celie Mans became the first runner from Siuslaw ever to win back to back state cross country championships. Mans capped her senior season with an 18:55 finish and the individual state championship Saturday in Eugene. Hanna Rannow, a freshman, was the second Viking runner across the line. She finished 42nd and the girls team was seventh overall.
Jack Pickell capped his senior season with a 24th place finish at LCC… his time was 17:19. Pickell was the only Viking boy on the course.
College football Saturday…
The Stanford Cardinal ran to a 26-15 Pac-12 victory over Oregon State at Stanford. Heisman finalist Christian McCaffrey ran for 199 yards and one touchdown. The Beavers will be at the Rose Bowl Saturday evening where they’ll face UCLA.
The USC Trojans powered their way to a 45-20 victory over Oregon at the Coliseum in Los Angeles Saturday. Ronald Jones tied a USC single-game record with four rushing touchdowns; Sam Darnold three for 309 yards and two touchdowns.
The Ducks will host Stanford this Saturday afternoon.
