End regular schedule with 4-game win over North Bend

The Siuslaw Vikings took care of their part of the Far West League Volleyball schedule last night, slamming home a victory over the visiting North Bend Bulldogs in four sets.  Makenzie York put it down hard to seal the deal, 27-25, in the first game.  The Bulldogs evened it up at one game each with a 23-25 win in the next.  Elyssa Rose took control in the third set, ending it with a kill to make it 25-14, then game four went to the Vikings 25-16.  That gave them no less than a share of the Far West league title.   Douglas was originally scheduled to be in Coos Bay yesterday against Marshfield, but that match was postponed to Monday.  If Douglas wins, it will force a league playoff later next week between the Trojans and the Vikings… if the Pirates come out on top, Siuslaw wins the championship outright.

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to be in Marshfield tomorrow for a volleyball tournament.

On the schedule…

Prep football tonight…

It promises to be wet and windy… but not as bad as last night.  The Mapleton Sailors are in Siletz where they’ll take on the Siletz Valley Warriors at seven o’clock.  That game will air on KCFM—AM 1250 and FM 104.1 with the pregame show at 6:45.

The Siuslaw Vikings will be on KCST at 6:45 for a seven o’clock kickoff from South Umpqua High School.

Cross Country

The Viking Harriers are set for the George Fox Cross Country Invitational tomorrow afternoon at Mission State Park near Brooks.  Mapleton runners had been scheduled to compete in Myrtle Point, but the weather has forced cancellation of that meet.

College football tomorrow…

Oregon has the weekend off… Oregon State will host Utah for a 1:00 kickoff at Reser Stadium.  The pregame show is at noon on KCFM.
