In the Far West League Friday night… the Marshfield Pirates dominated the Siuslaw Vikings 70-20 in Coos Bay. Douglas edged Brookings-Harbor 28-22; North Bend remained perfect with a 30-6 victory over South Umpqua.

On the cross country course…
The Siuslaw Vikings took a pair of fifth place team finishes at the Paul Mariman Invitational in Philomath. The host Philomath Warriors won the girls’ competition; Valley Catholic the boys’.
Celie Mans was second overall in the girls’ race; Isaac Griffes was 19th for the boys.
Pac 12 Football
The fifth ranked Washington Huskies broke a 12-game losing streak against the Oregon Ducks with a 70-21 victory at Autzen Stadium Saturday evening. It was Oregon’s fourth straight loss of the season. Coach Mark Helfrich started true freshman Justin Herbert over transfer Dakota Prukop at quarterback. Oregon will have the weekend off before taking on the Bears in Berkeley Friday, October 21st.
Oregon State led the entire way, but the Cal Bears tied the score at 41-all with 12-seconds remaining Saturday night in Corvallis, forcing a “Kansas Plan” overtime. The Bears went first and settled for a field goal. Three plays later, Oregon State Quarterback Darryl Garretson found the end zone on a 16-yard run to win it 47-44. The Beavers will host Utah Saturday afternoon.
