Russell Wilson injured in Seattle’s 37-18 rout of 49ers
SEATTLE (AP) — Russell Wilson threw for 243 yards and a touchdown before suffering a left knee injury as the Seattle Seahawks rolled to a 37-18 rout of the San Francisco 49ers Sunday.
Wilson was injured with about 10 minutes to go in the third quarter getting pulled down awkwardly on a sack by San Francisco’s Eli Harold. Harold was called for a horse collar penalty, but the bigger concern was how he fell on Wilson’s left leg.
Wilson stayed down on the field for a few moments before walking off. Wilson missed the first play of his career due to injury, but returned to throw one more pass. The completion led to the third of Steven Hauschka’s three field goals for a 27-3 lead and after that Wilson’s day was done.
Wilson had a brace placed on his left knee, and he never saw the field again, giving the final 1 ½ quarters of the blowout to undrafted rookie free agent Trevone Boykin.
Wilson finished 15 of 23 passing, including an 18-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jimmy Graham. Boykin also threw the first TD pass of his career, hitting Doug Baldwin on a 16-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Baldwin had eight catches for a career-high 164 yards.
It was a big day for Seattle’s offense that slogged through the first two weeks, scoring just 15 points in the first 120 minutes of the season. The Seahawks nearly matched that total in the first 11 minutes of the game thanks to the first two touchdowns of Christine Michael’s career.

Cruz homers twice, Mariners beat Twins 4-3
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Nelson Cruz homered twice before leaving with left wrist soreness, Jesus Sucre homered for the first time in 14 months and the Seattle Mariners beat the Minnesota Twins 4-3 Sunday.
Nick Vincent, Steve Cishek and Edwin Diaz combined for 3 2/3 innings of no-hit relief for Seattle, including Diaz’s 17th save in 19 chances.
Trying to make the postseason for the first time since 2001, Seattle is 2 1/2 games behind Baltimore for the second American League wild-card spot with a week to play.
Max Kepler homered and Robbie Grossman had three hits for Minnesota in its 100th loss. This is the second time in team history the Twins have had triple-digit losses: The 1982 squad finished 60-102.

Seattle’s Cruz leaves game with wrist soreness
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Seattle designated hitter Nelson Cruz left Sunday’s game in Minnesota with left wrist soreness.
Cruz, who hit two home runs in the game, appeared to hurt himself on a sixth inning swing. His second home run of the game came on the next pitch. He hit four home runs in the three-game series and has nine in his last 10 games at Target Field.
He has 41 home runs and 100 RBI on the season, his third straight year with at least 40 home runs.

Sounders win at Galaxy for 1st time since 2009
CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Jordan Morris scored his 11th and 12th goals of his rookie season and the Seattle Sounders beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 4-2 on Sunday to snap an 11-game road winless streak in the series.
Seattle (11-13-5) remained in seventh place, three points behind rival Portland for the final playoff spot. Los Angeles (11-5-15) lost its first home game of the season and its first against the Sounders since 2009.
Morris gave the Sounders a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute and scored again 10 minutes later. He outraced a defender down the right sideline and curled a shot with the outside of his right foot on a breakaway. In the 73rd, Morris settled a rebound and calmly scored with his left foot.
He moved into second place in MLS history for rooking scoring.
Robbie Keane opened the scoring in the 20th minute for Los Angeles when he headed home Sebastian Lletget’s chipped cross and Keane scored on a penalty kick in the 85th. Landon Donovan entered as a sub in the 67th.
Seattle tied it in the 35th on Jelle Van Damme’s own goal. Chad Marshall elevated to head Andreas Ivanschitz’s corner kick and it deflected off Van Damme’s head. Osvaldo Alonso hammered a shot from distance in the 78th for a 4-1 lead.
