Vikings upset Pirates

The Siuslaw Vikings spotted defending Far West League champion Marshfield the first two sets last night in Coos Bay, then swept the next three… winning the final set 15-5 to improve to 2-and-oh in the Far West Volleyball standings.  North Bend is also at 2-and-oh; the Bulldogs defeated South Umpqua in four sets last night.  Douglas beat Brookings-Harbor to round out league play last night.  The Vikings will host the Bruins Tuesday night.

Sailors fall, but not for lack of effort says coach

A short handed Mapleton Sailor team fell in three sets to Siletz Valley last night.  Coach Jesika Crook said they only had one reserve last night due to injuries.  Despite the loss, she was pleased with the team’s performance calling it the best her team has played so far this season.  The Sailors will be at McKenzie Tuesday evening.

Cross Country tomorrow…

The Siuslaw Vikings will be on the campus of Lane Community College in Eugene for the Northwest Classic.

The Siuslaw Vikings will play their first home game of the season this evening when they host the Newport Cubs.  Both teams are looking for their first win of the season… kick off is at seven.  The pregame show on KCST 106.9 is at 6:45.

The Mapleton Sailors will be in Falls City for their Mountain West League opener against Falls City-Kings Valley.

College football:

Oregon is on the road tomorrow where they’ll face Big Red… the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Kickoff is at one… the pregame show on 106.9 KCST is at 11:30.

The Beavers and the Bengals kick off at two tomorrow in Corvallis… Idaho State will be in town for the Oregon State home opener… airtime on KCFM is at one.
