Athlete of the Week
Mapleton football standout Hunter Simington is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week. The Sailor quarterback carried the ball 3 times for 88 yards, completed two passes for 65 yards… both of them for touchdowns. He led the defense with 11 solo tackles and five assisted tackles in Mapleton’s season opening 68-14 win over South Wasco County.
Honorable mention goes to Tyler Packebush who had five carries for 67 yards and three touchdowns and converted one point-after for two points.
Northwest League Baseball
The Hillsboro Hops handed the Eugene Emeralds their third straight loss last night… 6-1… to wrap up play in the regular season. The two teams have tonight off before they begin play in the Northwest League playoffs tomorrow… the first game of that series will be in Hillsboro.
On the prep schedule…
Mapleton is in Alsea this evening for Mountain West League volleyball against the Wolverines. Siuslaw is at home for non-league action against the Elmira Falcons.
