Highway 101 north of Florence to remain restricted through late evening Monday

Recovery efforts continue following semi truck crash south of Cape Perpetua

Traffic on Highway 101, five miles south of Yachats has been restricted to one lane most of the day and will likely close for a two to three hour period later this afternoon.

Angela Beers-Seydel with the Oregon Department of Transportation said fully loaded semi truck and trailer hauling wood chips was involved in a single vehicle crash early Monday morning.  The highway, about two miles south of Cape Perpetua, was closed for a three hour period while crews worked on recovering the tractor portion of the semi.

Beers-Seydel said the condition of the driver was not known, but he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Flaggers have been regulating traffic through the area most of the day as the recovery crew prepared to pull the semi tractor back onto the roadway.  Traffic will be halted completely later this afternoon or early evening when they begin to remove the loaded trailer.

Beers-Seydel said there are no local detours through the area.  She suggests keeping abreast of the situation by going to the ODOT website, www.tripcheck.com for the latest update.
