Florence’s Miller Park to host annual tournament

The largest turnout for the local Rick and Corrine Gehlke-Florence Junior Baseball Tournament is expected this weekend at Miller Park.  39 teams covering various age groups from several different communities will play on the five diamonds Saturday and Sunday.

Northwest League play begins tonight for the Ems

The Eugene Emeralds open up the Northwest League Single-A Short Season this evening at PK Park in Eugene against the Boise Hawks.

They’ll be under the direction of a new manager.  Jesus Feliciano spent 16 years in the minors and played in 54 games for the New York Mets during the 2010 season.  For the past four years he’s been working as a hitting coach in the Chicago Cubs organization… a role he played in Boise in 2014.

The Emeralds and Hawks begin a three game series tonight.
