MARINERS-PADRES

Mariners stun Padres with 14 runs in 2 innings to win 16-13

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Kyle Seager, Dae-Ho Lee and the Seattle Mariners scored 14 times in two innings to erase a 10-run deficit and stun San Diego 16-13 Thursday night, the latest pratfall for a Padres team that was ripped in a radio interview by its executive chairman a day earlier.

Trailing 12-2 after five, the Mariners benefited from a bullpen meltdown by the Padres. Seager hit a bases-loaded, two-run single with one out in the sixth to chase starter Colin Rea, followed by Lee’s impressive, pinch-hit, three-run homer off Brad Hand that landed in the second balcony of the Western Metal Supply Co. Building in the left-field corner.

The Mariners then sent 13 batters to the plate in their nine-run seventh.

ANGELS-LINCECUM

Lincecum allows three runs in five innings in Triple-A debut

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum allowed three runs and three hits over five innings in his first comeback start with Triple-A Salt Lake Bees against the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday night.

The 31-year-old right-hander, signed by the Los Angeles Angels two weeks ago, retired nine straight during one stretch after allowing two runs in the first inning and another in the second. He left with Salt Lake trailing 3-1 against a Tacoma lineup that included Seattle Mariners starting shortstop Ketel Marte, who is on a rehab assignment.

Lincecum struck out five and walked three with one hit batter. He also balked in a run with the bases loaded in the first. He threw 88 pitches, including 48 strikes.

Lincecum, 7-4 last season with San Francisco, underwent season-ending hip surgery last September and was released by the Giants. He pitched in two extended spring training games after signing with the Angels and is scheduled to make one more start for the Bees on June 7 and then join the Angels on June 12 to face the Cleveland Indians in Anaheim.

NBA FINALS-THE LATEST

Warriors beat Cavs 104-89, take Game 1 of Finals

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Shaun Livingston scored 20 points off the bench to help the Golden State Warriors overcome a rare quiet night from the Splash Brothers in a 104-89 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday night.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for just 20 points on 8-for-27 shooting. But the Warriors’ bench outscored Cleveland’s reserves 45-10, including 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists from Andre Iguodala. Leandro Barbosa added 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting.

LeBron James had 23 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists and Kevin Love added 17 points and 13 rebounds in his Finals debut for the Cavaliers. But Cleveland shot just 38 percent and its 17 turnovers led to 25 points for the Warriors.

Game 2 is on Sunday in Oakland.

JAPAN-US WOMEN

Japan rallies to tie US women 3-3 in Colorado

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Kumi Yokoyama scored in stoppage time to give Japan a 3-3 tie with the United States on Thursday night in a rematch of the Americans’ victory last year in the Women’s World Cup final.

Alex Morgan scored twice, and Lindsey Horan added a goal to help the United States overcome a 2-0 deficit.

Mana Iwabuchi and Yuki Ogimi also scored for Japan. Japan was reduced to 10 players when Ogimi received a second yellow card and was ejected in the 57th minute.

The game featured the finalists from the last two World Cups and the 2012 London Olympics. Japan won the 2011 World Cup on penalty kicks, and the U.S. won in 2012 and ’15.

It looked as if the Americans would prevail again when Horan, from nearby Golden, scored in the 89th minute to give the U.S. a 3-2 lead, but Yokoyama got free to beat goalkeeper Hope Solo.

The Americans dropped to 11-0-1 this year.

The teams will play again Sunday in Cleveland.
