One double-winner, two single winners and record setting results

The Siuslaw girls outscored teams from 16 other schools Saturday to win the team title at the Wally Ciochetti Track and Field Invitational in Cottage Grove.  The Lady Vikings scored 112 points, outdistancing second place Scappoose with 79.

Carissa Oliver set personal records in winning the discus and the shot put.  Mikaela Siegel won the 100 meter hurdles,
Annmarie Precht won the Long Jump.

Destinie Tatum set a new school record in the 800 meters, finishing in second place with a time of 2:17.71.

The boys were in the middle of the pack, finishing in 10th with 28 points.  Henley won the championship with 119.

Murray Bingham won the 3,000 meters.  Trent Reavis was second in the shot put, fourth in the discus with a personal best through of 149-feet, 2-inches.

Mapleton Track and Field

Mapleton’s Hunter Simington cleared 12-feet to win the pole vault at Friday’s Toledo Twilight.  Hannah Rodet was 4th in the Triple Jump for the Sailors.

On the diamond…

Siuslaw fell to North Bend in Far West League baseball Friday, losing 15-2 and 14-nothing.  The Vikings close out the season on the road tomorrow in Myrtle Creek against the south Umpqua Lancers.

Viking softball fell to North Bend in Florence Friday, losing both halves of a double header to the Bulldogs.  4-nothing and 12-nothing.  South Umpqua will be in town tomorrow where the Vikings will wrap up the regular season.   Siuslaw is scheduled to be in Winston today for a makeup game against the Douglas Trojans.

Pac-12 baseball…

Arizona swept Oregon State in a three-game conference series in Tucson over the weekend, winning 6-4, 4-1 and 6-5.  The Beavers will be in Keizer tomorrow for a non-league game against the Portland Pilots.  Oregon prevented a sweep by Arizona State with a 12-2 win in Tempe yesterday.  The series opened with a 5-4 Sun Devil win in 12 innings Friday, followed by another close ASU win, 9-8, Saturday.  Oregon will host Gonzaga in a two-game non-conference series beginning today at PK Park in Eugene.
