Gives up 8-run lead midway through game

With three games remaining in the regular season, Siuslaw baseball has moved into 4th place in the Far West League.  The Vikings did it with a 14-8 win over the Douglas Trojans last night at home.   Siuslaw built an early eight-nothing lead, but saw that evaporate in the fourth and fifth innings when the Trojans tied it up.  The Vikings scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth, then held on for the win.

Siuslaw will finish the regular season on the road.  The Viks have two games against the league-leading North Bend Friday before finishing up in Myrtle Creek next Tuesday against second place South Umpqua.

Softball rescheduled for safety

Viking softball yesterday was postponed for safety reasons due to thunder and lightning in Winston.  That game between Siuslaw and Douglas will be rescheduled.

Beaver baseball goes extra innings

Logan Ice drilled a 3-2 pitch off the wall in left field at Goss Stadium last night for an RBI double to send the 11th ranked Oregon State baseball team to an 11th inning 5-4 win over Seattle.  The double was Ice’s second of the game and his fourth hit, tying a season and career high for the junior catcher.  The Beavers hit the road for a three game weekend series at Arizona beginning Friday in Tucson.
