PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A man who killed a 33-year-old Portland transient man days after killing a woman in Utah has been sentenced to life in prison. KOIN-TV reports 61-year-old Roberto Garcia-Lopez pleaded guilty Monday to murder. He will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least 25 years in prison.

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a Portland police officer has been arrested on drunken driving charges after a crash in Clackamas County. Portland Police say Officer Daniel Chastain was driving a City of Portland vehicle Monday while “on call” but off duty when he was involved in a collision.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Two women who claim they were sexually abused by a nurse at a Beaverton clinic have filed a $1 million lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente over claims of negligence. The Oregonian reports the suit filed Monday claims Kaiser failed to adequately investigate Alex Matthew Woolner and report his behavior to authorities.

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) — The Junction City Council has voted to uphold the city’s decision to fire Police Chief Mark Chase, who has filed a $300,000 lawsuit against the city. The Register-Guard reports that the council’s decision Monday comes after a three-member panel of councilors voted in support of City Administrator Jason Knope’s decision to fire Chase on April 15.
