Viking softball standout Taylor Dotson is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The senior was three-for-three at the plate with a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored in Siuslaw’s Far West League victory over the Brookings-Harbor Bruins last week. Honorable mention is given to Michael Mason… the Viking slugger hit a three-run home run in the first inning to pace Siuslaw to an 8-run shutout baseball win over Douglas.

Oregon State squandered an early eight run lead, but held on for an 11-10 non-conference baseball victory over in-state rival Oregon last night in Eugene. The Ducks scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, then added six runs in the sixth to tie it up. The Beavers put up three in the top of the ninth, then squelched an Oregon Rally… holding the Ducks to just two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Viking softball is in North Bend where they’ll take on the Bulldogs tonight at five. The Bulldog baseball team will be in Florence where they’ll take on the Vikings… also at five. That game will air on Coast Radio Sports with the pregame show getting underway at 4:45.
