Sailor junior singled out
Mapleton track and field standout Hunter Simington is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The junior vaulted 10’6”, his highest so far this year, to win the pole vault at last week’s Aaron and Marie Jones Invitational in Blue River. He also ran one leg of the 2nd place 4-by-100 relay team at the same meet.
Honorable mention is given to Siuslaw Softball standout Taylor Dotson who belted her second home run of the season while going 3-for-4 at the plate in a Viking loss to Tillamook.

Viking Track and Field is in Coos Bay on Prefontaine Track for a Far West League meet. The first event begins at four.
Viking Softball is at home for one game today against the Brookings’ Harbor Bruins at five. Siuslaw Baseball will also face the Bruins, but in Brookings. That game will air on Coast Radio Sports with the pregame show at 4:45.
