Ducks beat Duke

featureAnd then there were eight…

Dillon Brooks scored 22 points and Oregon advanced to the brink of its first Final Four appearance in 77 years with an 82-68 victory over defending national champion Duke last night in the West Regional semifinal of the NCAA tournament.  Oregon, the number one seed in the west, will face number two seed Oklahoma tomorrow at three in the West regional final in Anaheim.  That game will air on Coast Radio Sports with the pregame show at 2:30.

Oregon State women in the Sweet 16

The Oregon State women will take on DePaul tomorrow at 3:30 in the Dallas Regional semifinal.  The winner of that game will take on either Baylor or Florida State Monday.

Turning to baseball…

KJ Harrison and Logan Ice each homered, but number three ranked Oregon State was unable to overcome a five-run Cal fourth inning in a 6-2 loss to the 17th ranked Bears last night in Berkeley.  The two teams meet again tonight at Evans Diamond in the second game of the three-game series.  Former Siuslaw pitcher Jake Thompson will get the start for the Beavers.  Airtime on KCFM is at 6:30… first pitch at seven.  The three game series wraps up tomorrow.

In Seattle, Washington’s Gage Matuszak hit a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the tenth inning to break a 6-6 tie and give the Huskies the 9-6 win over the Oregon Ducks.  It was the first game of a three game Pac-12 series.  The two teams meet again this evening, then tomorrow afternoon.
