PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Newly released documents say a Portland officer was allowed to resign last year after he was found to have lied about having sex while on duty with a woman he met on a police call. The Oregonian reports 54-year-old George Holloway Jr. resigned Jan. 6, 2015. Bureau reports say Holloway told dispatchers in 2014 that he had been taking a statement when he had actually driven to the woman’s hotel room.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A Salem man convicted of sexually abusing two girls has been sentenced to more than 16 years in prison. The Statesman Journal reports Andrew Brunkal was found guilty on 26 counts. The two alleged victims, who are sisters, testified Brunkal had sexually abused them over a seven-year period. The younger sister had first reported the abuse to police.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Two-time Olympian Nick Symmonds and his coach have filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against USA Track & Field and the U.S. Olympic Committee. The Register-Guard reports Symmonds and coach Sam Lapray own Run Gum, which sells caffeinated chewing gum. The suit alleges the two organizations are illegally restricting sponsor advertising at the U.S. Olympic Trials, which will start in July at Eugene’s Hayward Field.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Paul Millsap had 23 points and nine rebounds, and the Atlanta Hawks survived a late rally by Portland to defeat the Trail Blazers 104-98 last night. The Hawks have won three straight overall and four straight against the Blazers. CJ McCollum had 28 points for Portland.
