KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Martez Harrison scored 21 points, and LaVell Boyd hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to help Missouri-Kansas City beat Seattle 84-69 last night. Darius Austin scored 10 points and Shayok Shayok grabbed 11 rebounds for UMKC. Manroop Clair led Seattle with 20 points.

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) – Walter Wright scored a career-high 22 points, with nine assists, and Montana defeated Portland State 79-66 last night, improving to 3-0 in the Big Sky. Sophomore Isaiah Pineiro scored 20 points for Portland State (5-8, 1-1), which saw its two-game win streak come to an end. Calaen Robinson added 16, hitting four treys for the Vikings.

SEATTLE (AP) – Right-hander Ryan Cook has agreed to a one-year contract with the Seattle Mariners, who added another arm to their overhauled bullpen. Cook’s deal, which is not guaranteed, calls for a $1.1 million salary while in the majors and $300,000 while in the minors. Seattle general manager Jerry Dipoto says the addition of Cook enhances the Mariners’ bullpen depth.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Sounders have signed University of Denver midfielder Jordan Schweitzer to a homegrown player contract. From Everett, Washington, he played for the Sounders’ academy as a youth before becoming a three-time all-Summit League first-team selection during his career at Denver. Playing as a central midfielder, the 21-year-old Schweitzer started 70 of 73 games in his college career.
