PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Portland Police Bureau has reassigned an officer who allegedly sent a tweet about an upcoming Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot Portland protest. Acting Chief Donna Henderson says she reassigned the officer to an off-street position while the incident is reviewed.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A black Lewis & Clark College student who told police he was assaulted by three white men on campus says he forgives the attackers. Tanguy Muvuna spoke to more than 200 students, faculty and staff in a packed lecture hall yesterday. If the attackers are students, he says he wants them to finish their studies and make the families and country proud. The Oregonian reports that Muvuna’s words drew tears from some in the crowd.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The Eugene City Council has approved a pilot program that allows homeless people to sleep overnight at approved sites. The Register-Guard reports that the ordinance took effect Monday night after council approval since it contained an emergency clause. The council still needs to approve a site, which officials say they hope to do before they recess for their annual winter break on Dec. 17.
