Oregon State downs the Owls

Gary Payton II scored 19 points and led the Beavers to a 77-69 road victory over the Rice Owls last night in Houston. Oregon State went on a 17-6 run at the end of the first half to take an 11 point lead that held up through the second period. The Beavers will be back on the court tomorrow afternoon at U-C Santa Barbara; because of a conflict with football, that game will not air on the radio.

Number 25 ranked Oregon will be at home tonight where they’ll face the Savannah State Tigers in game three of the Global Sports Shootout. Airtime on KCST is at 7:30… tipoff at eight.

College football tomorrow…

It’s a traditional 12:30 kickoff for the Ducks and the USC Trojans at Autzen Stadium. The pregame show is at eleven on 106.9 KCST. Oregon State will be hosting the Washington Huskies at Reser Stadium. Airtime is at two on KCFM… kickoff at three.

Sailors start basketball season with the Blue/White game

The annual Blue and White basketball scrimmage at Mapleton High School tomorrow night will benefit the boys and girls teams at Mapleton, as well as support a popular former teacher. Mapleton Athletic Director Aaron Longo said the scrimmage is set to begin at six. The girls tip off in the first half; the boys in the second.

Admission is just three dollars for adults, students are a dollar and seniors or preschoolers are free.

Longo said the proceeds will be split with the McKenzie Perry fund. She taught at Mapleton last year before moving to Siuslaw this year. Perry was diagnosed with Leukemia on the first day of school and has been undergoing treatment at Oregon Health and Science University.
