SEATTLE (AP) – State health officials say a total of 45 people have been sickened with E. coli in the Pacific Northwest outbreak linked to Chipotle restaurants. Thirty people have been diagnosed with the illness connected with five restaurants in Washington state. Ten of them were hospitalized. Fifteen people have contracted E. coli in Oregon, with four of them hospitalized.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An armed sheriff’s deputy will begin patrolling an Oregon college where a gunman killed nine people and himself last month. The Oregonian reports that Douglas County deputy Scott Batsch is assigned to Umpqua Community College. When a shooter attacked the Roseburg campus on Oct. 1, there was one guard armed only with pepper spray.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) – As grocery chain Haggen moves ahead with plans to shed many of its stores during bankruptcy, it’s now looking to potentially unload its core stores in Washington and Oregon. The Bellingham Herald reports court documents show the company has scheduled a hearing in early December to discuss selling the 32 stores it initially said it would keep. A timeline submitted shows a tentative January auction of those stores.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Lake Oswego City Councilor Jeff Gudman says he’s running in the Republican primary for Oregon state treasurer. Gudman has filed candidate paperwork and is so far unopposed in the GOP primary. Republicans have struggled to win races for statewide offices such as treasurer. Gudman tells the Oregonian that he views the treasurer as a nonpartisan position.
