All Far West honors announced

Nine Siuslaw Vikings and head coach Tim Dodson were recognized for their efforts on the football field this week by Far West Coaches.   Dodson, who just completed his 20th year at the helm of Viking football, shared Coach of the Year honors with Gary Prince of North Bend.

Kenneth Thrall was singled out in four separate categories: making the first team as running back; linebacker; and punter. He was also named 2nd team kicker.

Preston Mitchell and Dylan Jennings picked up double recognition. Mitchell was first team Quarterback and defensive back; Jennings made the first team on the offensive line; 2nd team on the defense.

Other second team notables: Michael Larson at Center, Robert Fleming on the O line, Reese Siegel at tight end, Scott Gordon at wide receiver and Michael Mason on the defensive line. Cade Clawson received honorable mention at running back.

The Vikings finished in third place in the Far West League with a 6-and-3 overall record.

College basketball

There was one game on the college basketball court last night. Oregon State defeated Western Oregon 76-57 in an exhibition game at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.

On the schedule… College football:

The Beavers will host UCLA tomorrow at 1:30… the pregame show on KCFM is set for 12:30. The Ducks will take on Cal in a night game at Autzen Stadium… the pregame show on KCST is at six… kickoff at 7:30.
