PHOENIX (AP) – Bralon Addison scored on a 20-yard pass in the third overtime on a play upheld by review and Arrion Springs intercepted Mike Bercovici’s pass in the end zone, lifting Oregon to a wild 61-55 win over Arizona State last night. Two teams clinging to hopes in their respective divisions, the Sun Devils and Ducks traded explosive plays in a game that featured 1,243 total yards.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Timbers advanced in the MLS Cup playoffs in dramatic style by besting Sporting Kansas City 7-6 on a penalty shootout after a tense 2-2 draw last night. Rodney Wallace scored in the 57th minute to put the Timbers in front, but Kevin Ellis scored the equalizer for Kansas City in the 87th minute and the match went to extra time.

DALLAS (AP) – Jamie Benn scored midway through overtime and the Dallas Stars rallied to beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 last night. Patrick Sharp twice tied the game with goals for Dallas. The Stars have won two in a row by overcoming multiple-goal deficits. Alexandre Burrows, Alexander Edler and Radim Vrbata scored for the Canucks. Vancouver was held without a shot on goal for nearly 12 minutes to start the game.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Blake Griffin had 26 points and 10 rebounds, and Jamal Crawford added 15 points in the Clippers’ 104-88 victory over the Dallas Mavericks last night in Los Angeles’ home opener. Austin Rivers scored 14 points for the Clippers, who pulled away easily in the second half with a strong bench performance.
