EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Two members of a prominent Eastern Oregon ranching family have been re-sentenced to five years in prison for setting fires on federal lands along Steens Mountain. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the original sentenced given to Dwight and Steven Hammond was too lenient. They allegedly set the fires to improve the grass for cattle feed.
