EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A western Oregon woman is suing the U.S. Postal Service for failing to fire a letter carrier who she says harassed and assaulted women on his route for a decade. The Oregonian reports the 77-year-old woman from Albany says the government was negligent in failing to take action against Daniel Gray. He’s serving a six-year prison term after being convicted last year of breaking into the woman’s home and attacking her.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a Medford hunter has died after falling off a 60-foot cliff in eastern Curry County. The Mail Tribune reports that Jeffry Withrow was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday near the Tucker Flat Campground. Deputies say Withrow walked away from the campground Friday night and headed into nearby bushes. He fell off the cliff and was later discovered by members of his group.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has confirmed he’s trying to convince Deschutes Brewery of Bend to pick his state as its new East Coast site. Multiple news outlets report that Deschutes is looking at different places on the East Coast for its first area location. Deschutes CEO Michael LaLonde says nothing has been ruled out and that they’ll make a decision by the end of the year.
SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – A Seaside football player has been crowned homecoming queen, replacing her helmet with a crown during halftime. The Daily Astorian reports that 17-year-old Whitney Westerholm won the title during Seaside High School’s homecoming game at the end of September. The placekicker earned her spot on the football squad her senior year.
