ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – President Barack Obama will travel to Oregon this week to visit privately with families of the victims of last week’s shooting at a community college. Obama will visit Roseburg on Friday as he opens a four-day trip to the West Coast. Obama has renewed his call for stricter gun laws following the shooting and has expressed exasperation at the frequency of mass shootings in the U.S.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Officials evacuated Rogue Community College in southern Oregon because of a bomb threat. Though the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office believes the threat was directed at the Grants Pass campus, two other campuses were also cleared as a precaution. Multiple Oregon schools have responded to threats since Thursday’s deadly mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Alek Skarlatos is back on TV’s “Dancing with the Stars,” days after the mass shooting at his Oregon college. On Monday’s episode, an emotional Skarlatos dedicated his performance to the community of Roseburg, Oregon, where nine people were killed last Thursday. In August, he and two other Americans were hailed as heroes for stopping a terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train.

McMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The Yamhill County Sherriff’s Office says a partial human skull has been found in the woods west of Carlton. The agency says someone noticed it Saturday while searching for mushrooms near McGuire Reservoir. The skull appears to be very old and incomplete, and a medical examiner will inspect it to confirm it’s human.
