Siuslaw’s Celie Mans outpaced the rest of the pack to win the girls’ individual title at the Paul Marriman Cross Country Invitational Saturday in Philomath. Mans finished with a time of 18:39, a full 40 seconds ahead of the number two runner.

Her effort paced the Lady Vikings to the team championship, edging Molalla and South Umpqua. North Bend was in seventh.

Murray Bingham was sixth overall for the boys who were seventh as a team. Tillamook easily won the team championship, followed by Newport, Elmira, North Bend, Philomath and Molalla.

On the gridiron Friday night…

There were several lead changes, but the Bulldogs held on for a 33-27 Far West League victory over the Vikings in North Bend. Preston Mitchell completed 18 of 28 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns in the effort.

In Mapleton Hunter Simington threw two touchdown passes and had 13 tackles for the Sailors, but Falls City came out on top 44-26.

Ducks recover in the Rockies

Royce Freeman rushed for 163 yards and scored twice, third string quarterback Taylor Alie tossed a clinching touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and the Ducks beat Colorado 41-24 on a soggy Saturday night in Boulder.

The game was delayed for more than an hour by a storm that rolled through the area.
