Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

DALLAS, Ore. (AP) – Polk County deputies say a 2-year-old boy shot himself in the leg with his father’s gun. KPTV-TV reports that the child’s parents drove the boy to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after the incident. The toddler was airlifted to a Portland hospital. Deputies say the boy’s father was cleaning several guns when he stepped away, leaving a loaded .40 caliber handgun on a coffee table within reach of his son.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County deputies are investigating after a missing Gresham man was found dead at the Trillium Lake Sno Park east of Government Camp. The Oregonian reports that 68-year-old Frank Wilson was found dead yesterday in a white pickup truck parked at a lot at the park on Mount Hood. Investigators are calling his death “suspicious.”

ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – The Albany City Council has temporarily banned the sale of recreational marijuana at medical dispensaries in a move some councilmembers say could foreshadow a permanent ban. The Albany Democrat-Herald reports that the city attorney’s office said only 52 percent of Lin County voters opposed Measure 91. With that number, a local ban would need to be on the general election ballot in November 2016.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon lawmakers return to Salem next week for three days of meetings. Lawmakers can’t pass legislation during the quarterly “legislative days,” but committees will meet and lawmakers will get briefings on topics from income inequality to traffic congestion. The Legislature will begin a five-week session – when they can pass laws and tweak the budget, if needed – on Feb. 1.
