Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Jesus Montero continued to get the best of Jered Weaver, hitting a three-run homer as the Seattle Mariners handed the Los Angeles Angels their third loss in four games with a 3-1 win last night. Montero’s fourth homer of the season was a line drive into the bullpen in left field with two outs in the fourth inning. It was his fifth homer among six career hits off Weaver (7-11).

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Kianz Froese scored in the first half and the Vancouver Whitecaps beat Honduras’ Olympia 1-0 last night in CONCACAF Champions League play. The Whitecaps (1-0-1) moved into a tie with the Seattle Sounders (1-1-1) atop Group F heading into their game next week in Seatte. Olympia is 1-2-0.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Starting safety Morgan Burnett has returned to practice for the Green Bay Packers after missing the season opener against Chicago with a calf injury. The six-year veteran wore a sleeve around his lower left leg during practice yesterday. Having Burnett back for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks and running back Marshawn Lynch would be a boost for a defense that allowed 141 yards rushing and a touchdown on 24 carries to the Bears’ Matt Forte.

UNDATED (AP) — Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. confirmed that he has a broken finger and says it’s a game-time decision whether he’ll start Saturday against Georgia State. Vernon told reporters that he broke his finger in the season opener. It was bothering him in the Ducks’ 31-28 loss at now-No. 4 Michigan State last weekend. Adams transferred to Oregon from Eastern Washington for his final season of eligibility.
