GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) — Gresham police have arrested a man accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm after officers were called about a couple having sex on the hood of a car. The Oregonian reports that police on Monday night found a woman dressed in only a bra leave the hood of a vehicle and get into the car. A man was seen walking toward the passenger door when officers noticed a firearm at the man’s feet. The man was arraigned yesterday.

KELSO, Wash. (AP) — Teachers in the southwestern Washington town of Kelso are on strike today after last-minute talks with Kelso School District officials over pay and other issues failed. KATU News reports an eleventh hour negotiating session ended last night without agreement. District officials canceled today’s classes. They say no access to schools will be provided until the strike ends although school sports practices and events will take place.

BEND, Ore. (AP) — PacifiCorp is trying to block part of a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over allegations that the power company violated a 100-year lease agreement. The Bend Bulletin reports the lawsuit filed last year by the Central Oregon Irrigation District claims PacifiCorp polluted the Cline Falls hydroelectric plant near Redmond and failed to maintain the site.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — State labor officials say Oregon added 4,400 jobs in August and that follows a revised gain of 7,400 jobs in July. Over the past 12 months, Oregon’s payroll employment has expanded by more than 60,000 jobs. The state hasn’t had a run like that since June 1996 to May 1997.
